Favourite music Friday

I'm in need of some inspiration. I'm a little bit stuck at the moment. Hopefully a bit of lovely music helps!

One of my favourite heart breaking music videos and band (Unfortunately they broke up a little while ago). Beautifully put together and such a nice style. I've been searching for the artist but haven't had any luck. Anybody happen know who created this?

Anyway, off to make some playdough and to draw.

Hope you have a reallly, really, really smashing Friday night.

Ghost

"Ghost"

Watercolour and pencil.

I created this a little while ago. I've been asked a couple of times if this is finished. It feels finished to me, perhaps some shading would make it better? I wanted to keep it quite 'flat'.

I'm actually quite content with it!

Home

Hello unloved blog,

So....I've been super slack with my drawing and it's time to change that! I'm feeling very guilty.

My cousin is starting up a vintage family online boutique and has asked me to do some characters for her. I'm struggling with scanning (as always) buit I'm finally getting the ball rolling and hopefully I keep it up.

I did this a couple of weeks ago. My lovely friend kathy bought me some water colour pencils. I love their vibrant colour.

Illustrations Friday:Shades

This is my third submission for Illustration Friday. I seem to like to draw my dog Hamish a lot. Probably because he sits next to me under the table. He's also pretty rad. I tried to put a st. Patricks hat on him today but he didn't like that much.

Still struggling with scanning quality! The dots are paint samples that I stole and cut up. Just thought I'd experiment a little.

Hope you're having a swell day and thanks for looking!

Brigid :)

Character Illustrations

Heavily influenced by Disney obviously.
I don't like how they came out. I think I need to be more careful with balance and composition. The scanning quality is also horrible. I also dislike the added text. However, I do like the borders which I think I'll continue playing around with.

They were pretty fun to draw! The brought back many childhood memories. I was pretty fond of The Little Mermaid (and still am- I found an old video at an op shop for 20 cents...Score!)

Who was your favourite Disney character?

Mean cat

My cat, Tina gives me mean looks all the time. I imagine this is what she's trying to tell me.

Illustration Friday: Intention

"Her intentions were good but she still made a mess of things."

This idea came to me on Saturday as I was baking for a tea party I was to have with friends. The kitchen was a total wreck and I somehow managed to burn the first batch of cakes! I do think the mess was half the fun... Although maybe not when I had to clean it all up a day later. (Yes, a day later. I put these things off)

Watercolour/gouache and wall paper.

This is my second submission for IF. I decided to play around with collage. I scanned the separate pieces so I can mess around with the composition/sizing when I have a capable computer.

Thanks a heap for looking!

Good morning!

I wasn't sure whether or not to add whiskers. I decided against it but I think I should have.

Today I'm off into the big city to go to the art galleries and state library. I'm hoping I find some nice inspiration and some macarons.

BATBEAR..

I'm obsessed with Batman. And I like to draw bears. So I did this.

Hope you're having a crime fighting, bad-guy-crippling, kick ass day my friend!

I really struggle at scanning quality images and I am totally clueless about the technical side of... uhmmm... getting pictures into the computer machine.

I need to take a class and read a book. Very soon!

I cannot wait until winter

It's a wonderful excuse to wear scarves.

Illustration Friday: Capable

This is my first submission for http://illustrationfriday.com.
The topic of the week is 'Capable'.

When we are children we believe we are capable of anything. Anything at all. We can become astronauts, chocolate testers, famous actors, a clown, a ballet dancer, a mad scientists. All that is needed (as we learn when we grow up) is a lot of hard work.

Thanks oh so much for looking!

Oh hai.

Welcome to my little blog. Here you will find my own illustrations, creations, delicious foods and things that inspire. I'll also be featuring artists that I think are pretty great.

My aim this year is to become more confident in my drawing/painting abilities whilst mastering my own illustration style. I'm hoping to do participate in Illustration Friday each week. I mustn't be lazy!

Hope your day is full of wonder,

Brigid xo
